Rose Marie Roderick, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and natural caregiver, passed away on May 1 at the age of 78. She was the kind of person who gave love freely and made everyone around her feel safe, cared for, and at home.
Rose built her life around caring for others. She lovingly raised her grandchildren in their early years, opening her home and heart not only to them, but to other children as well. To many, her home was more than just a place, it was comfort, consistency, and unconditional love. She kept an open and welcoming home where love truly lived and always made space for those who needed it most. Rose had a quiet way of taking people under her wing, offering comfort, guidance, and steady support without hesitation. She led with a kind heart and a listening ear, living her life with a quiet grace that was felt by all who knew her.
Her nurturing spirit extended beyond the younger generations, as she also cared for her own mother in her later years. Taking care of others wasn't something she did, it was simply who she was.
Rose is survived by her sons, Paul and his wife April, and Joseph and his wife Mandy; her beloved grandchildren, Kirklin, Abigail, and Brianna; and her three adored great-grandchildren, Joseph, Paul, and Roderick.
Funeral services for Rose will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 9:00am from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a graveside service at 10:00am at Newport Memorial Park, 123 Howland Ave., Middletown. Following her burial, a funeral will take place at 11:00am at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 12 Marlboro St., Newport.
The world feels a little softer because Rose was in it, and her love will continue to live on in all those she cared for.
