Ruth E. Brockway

Ruth E. (Glines) Brockway, 95, formerly of Portsmouth, died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Village House Nursing Home in Newport, RI. Mrs. Brockway was born February 22, 1922 in Fall River, MA. She was the daughter of the late Alfred H. and the late Florence (Viles) Pierce. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela G. Douglas and her husband William of Middletown, RI, and her son Roland Glines of Yarmouthport, MA. She is also survived by her grandsons, Ryan Glines and Jeffrey Glines, and their mother, Christine Glines.She is preceded in death by her husband Frank E. Brockway, and her husband, Roland A. Glines, and also her brothers, John T. Pierce Sr. and Alfred H. Pierce.For many years Ruth was very active in the Portsmouth Republican Women's Club. She was also a member of the Altar Guild at The Church of the Holy Cross and affectionately known as the "Choir Mother". The family will be receiving visitors from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Church of the Holy Cross, 1439 West Main Road in Middletown, RI, and her funeral will be held immediately following at 11:00am in the church.
