Mrs. Ruth Moore, 90, of Middletown, RI, passed away on October 20, 2018 at Newport Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of the late QMCM Edward R. Moore, USN (Ret).
Ruth was born in Somerville, MA to Arthur and Charlotte Loveless. She grew up in Somerville in a large family and married Edward Moore in 1950. As Edward was a Submarine Quartermaster, Ruth was a dedicated Navy wife, taking care of her family on her own while he was at sea. She was extremely patient, and always had room at the table for her childrens friends and neighbors. Over the years, she loved her bingo outings with friends, at the VFW or Elks Lodge, and more recently at the Knights of Columbus in Tiverton or Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport. She also enjoyed the occasional adventure to Foxwoods or Newport Grand.
Ruth is survived by her children, Margaret OKeefe of Warren, Patricia Moore of Middletown, James Moore (Tonya) Parrottsville, TN, Kathryn Moore, Evelyn Moore, Thomas Moore, and Michael Moore, all of Middletown. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Matthew Moore, Corrinne Miller, Collin Miller, Dawn Henneous, Joseph OKeefe, one great grandson Brendan Henneous, and three sisters, Margie Fowler, Irene Pliskaner, and Evelyn LaSage. In addition she leaves several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, and siblings Fred, Richard, William, Brenton, and Herbert Loveless, Laura Moran, Helen Allen, and Millie McBay.
Viewing hours will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 2:00pm to 6:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 8:30am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at Jesus Saviour Church, 509 Broadway, Newport. Burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
