Samuel Peter Fay, 78 of Tiverton, RI passed away on July 31, 2025. He was born on April 30, 1947, in Portsmouth, RI. He was the son of the late Lester and Josephine.
Sam spent a fulfilling career as a store manager at the Stop & Shop Supermarket in Middletown for over 30 years, where he started out as a stock boy and worked his way up to store manager. He was known for his friendly demeanor and commitment to serving others. His dedication to his work and his community earned him the admiration of customers and colleagues alike.
Sam attended Bristol Community College where he studied computer science and master in math tutorial where he was "Tutor of the Year". He was also an avid organist and published composer with his copyrighted song "Josephine's Waltz".
Throughout Sam's years, he was also a marksman and belonged to many clubs including the NRA, Newport Rifle Club, and the Fall River Rod & Gun Club. Sam also enjoyed being a CB & Ham radio operator.
Sam is survived by his beloved nephew, John Gallagher, who will carry on his memory in the hearts of all who knew him. Besides his late parents, Sam was also predeceased by his his sisters, Stella Gallagher and Shirley Marley.
We invite friends and family to gather to celebrate Sam's life. Calling hour will take place from 8:00 to 9:00 am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road. Portsmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa Church, 265 Stafford Road, Tiverton, RI on August 21, 2025, at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Portsmouth Cemetery on Turnpike Ave.
