Stamatia Constantine Logothets, known affectionately as Tammy, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on March 24, 2026 at the age of 61. Tammy was a lifelong resident of Newport, dedicated to her family and steeped in her Greek Orthodox faith and heritage.
Tammy was born on July 29, 1964 in Newport, RI to Constantine and Myrsine (Bouras) Logothets, and was the oldest of three daughters. She was a graduate of Rogers High School, and then of Katharine Gibbs School. Her professional journey saw her first flourish in the Human Resource Department at the Naval Underwater Systems Center in Newport, (now NUWC), as well as contribute her talents later in life to the city she loved at Newport Public Schools and other local organizations. Throughout her work, her strong initiative, dedication, and generosity stood out, earning her the admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Tammy was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Newport. A descendent of the first Greek settlers to arrive in Newport from Skiathos, Greece, Tammy was also a proud member of the Island of Skiathos Organization and contributed to hosting Greek cultural events throughout Newport and Skiathos, Greece. With a family lineage of Greek fishermen, Tammy enjoyed spending countless hours as a young girl on her father's lobster boat where it was moored on Long Wharf.
Tammy had a genuine, kind, and jovial spirit that touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her wit, radiant smile and laughter would light up any room. She was a remarkable person, always helping and putting others before herself. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family, and especially being a loving and devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was a guiding light, and part of her legacy will lie in the stories she lovingly told with her wonderful sense of humor, and the wisdom she Blessed her family with each day.
Tammy was an animal lover through and through and adored taking walks with her dog at the beach. She enjoyed making crafts as a hobby and cooking for family and friends.
Tammy is survived by her mother, Myrsine Logothets, her sister, Kathryn McKeon (Gary Fenster) and her children William, Constantine, and Myrsine McKeon. She is also survived by her Nouna, Mary Logothets Michael, and cousins; John Michael and Kathryn Williams (John) and her children, Mary and Stephanie Williams. Tammy also leaves behind many cousins in Skiathos, Greece.
Tammy is preceded in death by her beloved family members: her father, Constantine "Gus" Logothets, her sister, Christina Logothets, and her Nouno, Arthur Michael.
