Steven L. Bernt

Steven Bernt, 63, of Quaker Estates ,Portsmouth RI, formerly from Rehoboth, MA, died unexpectedly at home, on Sunday June 18, 2017. He was born April 16, 1954, in Newton, MA, the son of the late Jack and Priscilla Bernt, also formerly of Rehoboth, MA.He was a graduate of Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School in 1972, and attended Southeastern Massachusetts University in Dartmouth, MA.He worked for Hans Bernt Tractor Co. for many years, with his father, and together they opened Action Liquors, in Cranston RI.He was an accomplished golfer in his younger years. Steven was also a dedicated NE sports fan. He was an avid reader and was passionate about all animals, especially his beloved cat, Ally.He is survived by his brother, Philip Bernt, his two sisters, Martha Rose and Nancy Marshall, all who live in Portsmouth, RI, and many nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840, would be greatly appreciated.A private celebration of Stevens life will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2017.
