Susan Mary Hopf, 61, of Newport, RI, passed away at Newport Hospital on February 24, with her sister, Catherine, at her side, after a six year courageous and brave fight with cancer.
Susan was born on March 31, 1964 in Newport-the daughter of Audrey and John Hopf. She graduated from Rogers High School and went on to a lifetime retail career. She started in Woolworths and went to KMart, working up to the front desk. She enjoyed working many years at Christmas Tree Shops, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and others.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church and made a trip to Lourdes, France, with her church group. She loved studying religion and had a collection of Bibles and made religious earrings, selling them at the St. Barnabus Fair, along with other religious pictures. She loved playing the piano and going to concerts. Meeting her favorite singers after a concert was a must for her. Susan loved taking pictures and seeing them published in the local papers.
Susan is survived by her sisters, Linda Davignon and her husband, Patrick, of Cranston, RI, and Catherine A. Drescher of Warwick, RI, as well as by her brother, John J. Hopf of Newport, RI. She is also survived by her aunt, Estelle O'Connell of Newport, RI, a niece, Melissa Payne and her husband, Christopher of York, PA, and two grandnephews, Ryan and Matthew.
She was predeceased by her sister, Adele Hopf, and nephew, Ryan Davignon.
