Theodore E Michaud

Aug 13, 1964 — Aug 19, 2026

Theodore E. "Ted" Michaud, 62, of Newport, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026. Born in Newport on August 13, 1964, Ted lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering willingness to help others. To know Ted was to know someone who could always be counted on, whether you needed a helping hand, a listening ear, or a solution to a problem that seemed impossible to fix.

Ted found great purpose in serving others. He dedicated countless hours as a volunteer, quietly giving of himself without ever expecting recognition in return. Many will fondly remember him as Santa for the Salvation Army, a role he embraced with warmth, humor, and genuine joy. Others knew him through his years as a tow truck driver for Mello's, where he often met people on some of their most difficult days and offered reassurance along with assistance. Helping people wasn't simply something Ted did. It was who he was.

Gifted with his hands and blessed with endless patience, Ted seemed capable of fixing almost anything. Family and friends knew better than to throw something away before giving Ted a chance to work on it. He loved woodworking alongside his father and found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was spending a day fishing, working at the race track with close friends, or helping keep car #116 running, Ted was happiest when he was doing what he loved and sharing those moments with the people who meant the most to him. He also shared a special bond with his beloved dogs, Luna and Lucas, who brought him great companionship and joy.

Above all else, Ted treasured the people he loved. He leaves behind his life partner, Cheryl Killin; his siblings, Karen Foster and Alexander Waddell (Patricia); his children, Nicole Marie Alves, Danielle Kenney, Ashley Viens, and Raymond J. Viens; his nieces, Kira Clarke, Cheyenne Capps, and Crystal Leduc; and his great-nephew, Noah Clarke. He will also be deeply missed by his 12 grandchildren, his many friends, and the countless members of the community whose lives were touched by his generosity, kindness, and willingness to help whenever he was needed.

Ted's legacy is not measured by what he owned or accomplished, but by the countless acts of kindness he shared and the lasting impression he left on those fortunate enough to know him. His presence made life easier, brighter, and better for so many, and his memory will continue to live on in every story told, every lesson shared, and every act of kindness inspired by his example.
