Theresa Silvia

Theresa (Joseph) (Abenante) Silvia, 83, lovingly known as "Ma" and "G-Ma," passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by her family. A proud native of Bristol, RI, and longtime resident of Portsmouth, Theresa embraced the charm of small-town life and made an unforgettable impact on everyone she met.

Preceded in death by her eldest son, David Joseph, Theresa leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through her surviving seven children; Denise Goulet, Bobby Abenante, Joann Sleeper, Roger Abenante, Irene Hamilton, Scott Silvia, and Mikey Silvia; along with her nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Though small in stature, Theresa had a personality that could fill a room. She was known for her fierce spirit, bold sense of humor, and unshakable love for her family. Whether hosting a holiday, gearing up for a cookout, or pulling a late night of playing cards or hitting the casino, Theresa was always the heart of the gathering, always ready for a good time.

She was tough, fearless, full of fire, and endlessly devoted to those she loved. Her laughter, strength, and unforgettable spirit will echo in the memories of all who knew her.

A Celebration of Theresa's life will take place sometime in September and will be announced by the family.
