Thomas M. Allison (U.S.N. ret.), "The Chief," 93, of Providence, RI, died on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Providence, RI. Born on May 22, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas M. and Annabelle (Daugherty) Allison. He was the husband of the late Joan (Whitney) Allison and Mary (O'Malley) Allison. A career serviceman in the United States Navy, Mr. Allison attained the rank of Senior Chief Boatswain's Mate. He served his country in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam Era and received numerous military honors during his long and distinguished career. He is survived by his loving children, Christine J. Bednarz and partner Joseph G. Fortunato of Naples, FL, Marjorie A. Tucci and her husband Alexander of Middletown, CT, Susan A. O'Shea and her husband Patrick of Riverside, RI, Lorolie M. Wishart of Providence, RI, Thomas M. Allison and his wife Kathleen of Seekonk, MA, and Gerard F. Allison and his wife Malgorzata of Clearwater, FL. Mr. Allison is also survived by 11 adoring grandchildren, Amy and Rian Bednarz, Nicholas and Natalie Tucci, Allison O'Shea, Teresa Wishart, Thomas, Timothy, and Scott Allison, and Kelsey and Whitney Allison. Additionally, he is survived by five great-grandchildren. Thomas M. Allison will be lovingly remembered as a humble, dignified, and generous man with a keen sense of humor and an unwavering love for his family, friends, and country. Mr. Allison's family wishes to recognize and thank Ria Kowal and Linda Leighton at Wingate Assisted Living in Providence for their care and compassion.
