Valerie E. Flynn

Valerie E. Flynn, age 78, of Newport, Rhode Island, passed away on June 27, 2018 at Newport Hospital.Valerie was born in Cork, Ireland on September 9, 1939 to Wilton Flynn and Carmela Lyons Flynn. She loved her family amp; friends, music, dancing, cooking, animals, the ocean, Ireland (her beloved home) and Newport (her home away from home)--in fewer words, she loved life. She was a self proclaimed tough Irish broad.Above all else Valerie was devoted to her religion and the Lord. She was pious and lived the best life she could, always helping others to find peace as a hospice nurse, RN, chaplain, and a Benedictine Oblate.Valerie is survived by her sister Carmela Chau of Queens, NY, and siblings still in Ireland, Jill Kirk, Anne Dunne, Ken Flynn, Roy Flynn, Billy Flynn, Brian Flynn, many nieces and nephews and devoted friends.A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:00am in the Church of St. Gregory the Great, at Portsmouth Abbey, Cory's Lane, Portsmouth.Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Portsmouth Abbey, 285 Cory's Lane, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
