Vincent Rein

Vincent Rein, 93, of Newport, died on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI. Born in Newport, RI on Apr. 1, 1920, he was the son of the late Alvin Rein and Isabella (Pinto) Rein. He was the husband of the late Ellen (Barnum) Rein. They were married August 25, 1942. He was an engineer in the Army National Guard from July 10, 1939 to June 10, 1945. He served in the South Pacific during WWII (Guadalcanal, Russell Island, Kolombengara, New Georgia Island, Bougainville Island, and Vella La Vella Island.) He received the American Defense medal (Asiatic Pacific Theater), Soldier Good Conduct metal and Battle Stars. He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Miller of Portsmouth, RI and his grandson, Stephen J. Miller and his wife, Holly Miller and granddaughter Patricia Miller. A graveside service will be held on Monday March 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at Newport Memorial Park, Vaucluse Ave in Middletown.
