Virginia Lee Polek

Newport, RI - Virginia Wilson Lee Polek, 70, of Dartmouth Street, Newport, RI, a retired registered nurse died Monday, January 19, 2009 at the home of her daughter. Born in Newport, RI on October 1, 1938, she was the daughter of the late William Elmer and Annis Rondina Wilson. She lived Succusunna, NJ for many years before returning to Newport. She was a 1959 graduate of the Newport Hospital School of Nursing and joined the Navy as an officer during the Vietnam War where she was stationed at the Naval Hospital in Oakland California. After leaving the military she worked at Massachusetts General Hospital, Deaconess Hospital in Boston, and Dover Hospital New Jersey, before retiring. She leaves a daughter Christine Harris of Scituate, MA, a son John Polek of Washington, CT, two grandsons Wyatt and Boden and a granddaughter Farrah Annis Harris all of Scituate, MA. She was the sister of the late William Wilson. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at 11:00 am in Newport Memorial Park, Howland Avenue, Middletown.
