Blake, 77, of 42 President Avenue Portsmouth, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002.He was the husband of Arlene Lynch Blake, of Portsmouth, for 48 years. Born in Fall River, MA on August 5, 1924, he was the son of the late Jeremiah Blake and Margaret Kelly Blake.Mr. Blake was a Navy WWII veteran, who served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a retired Chief Rubber Chemist from Fabreeka Products Co., Quincy MA., and a former chemist at Firestone Rubber Co. and Ludlow Rubber Co. He attended Bradford Durfee Technical Institute. Mr. Blake was an active member of the USS LSM-LSMR New England Association, the National LSM Association and the National Diabetes Association. He was a former member of the Town Howlers Square Dance Club, Fall River Knights of Columbus and RI Rubber Group. He was an active communicant of St. Anthonys Parish and the Portsmouth Abbey Chapel. Besides his wife he leaves his five children, Colleen Blake Hitchings of North Kingstown, RI, Cathy Blake Charbonneau of Fall River, MA, William R. Blake of Tiverton, RI, Kevin L. Blake and Jeffrey J. Blake both of Portsmouth, RI, eight grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kelley, Blake, Lauren, William, Mallorie, Kevin and Aylssa, his brother John J. Blake of Scottsdale, AZ and his sister Margaret M. Blake of Fall River, MA. He was the brother of the late Gerald Blake and Rita Mitchell. His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2002 at 8:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial with Military honors at 9:00 AM in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery in Fall River. Donations in his memory may be made to the Camp Kyle Childrens Fund, Greater Fall River Diabetes Association, Rock Street, Fall River, MA, 02720.
