He was the proud member of Connecticut Plumbers Pipefitters for nearly 70 years, and those who knew him where aware of his dedication to his trade and the quality and integrity of his work, but his true passion and love was that of family man, putting the love of his wife and children above all things. He was a humble and kind man that could be seen plowing areas on the pond in his neighborhood in Ridgefield, CT for children and families to ice skate, started the grills at the neighborhood beach to get ready for family night, and attended every activity of his daughters throughout their lives being their biggest fan.He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Walsh, nephew Burton Cottle and brother-in-law Kenneth "Luke" Lucas, and several close friends. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Linda (Lucas) Walsh, daughter Melissa Murphy and son-in-law Ryan, daughter Heather Walsh Denomme and son-in-law Michael, and his granddaughter Keelan Mary Walsh Denomme, the light of his life. He is also survived by sister Mary Ellen Cottle and husband Burton, sister-in-law Sharon Corbin and husband Lindsey, and several nieces and nephews and dear friends.Bill loved the water, which is what lead him and Linda to retire in South Kingstown, RI where he enjoyed the days he owned his boat ~Just Because. He took great joy seeing both of his daughters drawn to the water as well as they made their homes in Cape Cod and Rhode Island. The family would like to thank all those affiliated with Hope Hospice Palliative Care Rhode Island who lovingly cared for him in his final chapter of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Hope Hospice Palliative Care Rhode Island at 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or their website www.hopehospiceRI.org.A celebration of life will be held in May, the month he and Linda were married. Bill's wishes are being honored by his family and his services will be private. When you go to the ocean and see a freight liner slow, steady and strong that is Bill.
