William Philip Stingle

Portsmouth, RI - William P. Stingle, 80, of 13 Martens Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at home.He was the husband of the late Sylvia Wilkey Stingle who passed away in October 14, 2010. Born in Council Bluffs, IA on April 12, 1930, he was the son of the late Philip and Gudren Larson Stingle. William served 22 years in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He was also employed by Raytheon as an electrical engineer for many years until his retirement. He is survived by his children Robin Mello of Tiverton, RI, Eleanor Correira of Bristol, RI, Ruth Johnson of Tiverton, RI, Elizabeth Howard of Liberty, SC, Kirk Stingle of Warwick, RI, and Kristen Greaney of Weare, NH, his grandchildren, Jonathan and Kathryn Mello of Tiverton, RI, Eliza and Evan Correia of Bristol, RI, and Samantha, Zackerie, and Scott Greaney, of Weare, NH and his sister Phyllis Krebs and her husband Arthur of Council Bluffs, IA. At the request of the family all services will be private.
