Marcia (Brunini Truite) Hanson, 69, passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. Marcia was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gherig's Disease) in 2015, and fought bravely to enjoy the time she had remaining with her beloved family. Marcia was born September 4, 1947 in Jaboticabal, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, daughter to the late Bianca (Brunini) and Leonel Truite.
Marcia loved her family above all else, and cherished the times they spent together. She lived in the moment and would never put off a bike ride, visit to the zoo, dinner out, or sunset drive along the beach. Especially in these last years of her life, she knew every day was a gift. Marcia loved fully, and gave her love and affection to family and friends without restrain.
As a young girl, Marcia attended Colégio São José (Bauru, São Paulo, Brazil), and upon graduating, became a preschool teacher at the school. She was certified as a Montessori teacher and taught there for 8 years. In the early 70s she left the school to earn her Master's Degree is psychology and became a child psychologist for the State foster system.
In 1981, her first child was born and Marcia's goals in life shifted. Marcia became a full time mother, and dedicated her life, love, and affection to being the incredible mother and wife she has been since. She helped build a strong, loving family, who has weathered this storm all together, and helped her achieve some comfort during the last weeks of her life.
Marcia is survived by her beloved husband, Jeffrey Hanson, her two children Daniela (Brendan) Abbott and John Victor Hanson, and her two cherished grandchildren, Bianca and Myles Abbott. She also leaves behind her three siblings in Brazil, Marina (Herivelto) Benjamim, Mariza Truite, and Leonel (Joceley) Truite Jr, along with several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family in Brazil, Minnesota, Rhode Island, and all over the country.
Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, at 10am in St. Barnabas Church at 1697 East Main Rd in Portsmouth.
